Pending or stuck transactions

A pending transaction has been sent to the network but isn't confirmed yet. Most confirm on their own within minutes. When the network is busy or the fee was low, it can take longer, and on some networks you can speed it up or cancel it.

Why it's pending

  • The network is busy. Many transactions are waiting, and the ones that pay more go first.
  • The fee is low. It's below what others are paying right now.
  • An earlier transaction is still pending. A transaction marked Queuing waits for an earlier pending transaction from the same address. Speed up or cancel the earlier one first.
  • The status is behind. FxWallet can take a few minutes to show that the network has confirmed a transaction.

Speed it up or cancel it

On networks that support it, a pending transaction shows Speed Up and Cancel, both in the coin's history and on the transaction's page.

  • Speed Up sends the same transaction again with a higher fee. The new one replaces the old one, so you pay only one fee: the higher one.
  • Cancel replaces the transaction with one that moves nothing. The replacement pays a network fee too, and it works only if the network hasn't confirmed the original yet.

If neither shows, the network doesn't support them: wait for the transaction to confirm.

Check it in a block explorer

Open the transaction, copy its transaction hash (TXID), and look it up in the network's block explorer, such as Etherscan for Ethereum. The explorer shows whether the network has the transaction and whether it's confirmed.

If it stays pending

If it's still pending after 24 hours, contact support with the transaction hash (TXID).
