Memo and destination tag

A memo is a short note attached to a transfer. Some exchanges give many customers the same deposit address, and use the memo (on XRP, the destination tag) to tell their deposits apart. If an exchange gives you a memo or tag, your transfer must include it, or the exchange can't credit it to your account.

If the recipient asks for a memo or destination tag and FxWallet doesn't show a Memo field for what you're sending, don't send. Ask the recipient for an address that doesn't need one. A transfer without a required memo may never reach the recipient's account.

When FxWallet shows a Memo field

FxWallet shows a Memo field when you send the native coin of a network that uses memos, such as Cosmos Hub (ATOM), Sei, Kava and Toncoin (TON).

• The field is optional. Leave it empty when the recipient doesn't need a memo, for example when you send to another wallet.
• The field isn't shown for tokens on those networks, such as TON jettons, or for NFTs.
• FxWallet can't add an XRP destination tag. Don't send XRP to an address that requires one.

Add a memo when you send

1. On the Wallet tab, tap the coin you want to send, then tap Send.
2. Enter the recipient's address and the amount.
3. Copy the memo from the recipient, for example from the exchange's deposit page, and paste it into Memo. The field has a length limit, and the counter next to it shows how much you've used.
4. Tap Next Step, check the details, and confirm.

The confirmation screen doesn't show the memo, so check it before you tap Next Step.

If you sent without a required memo

Contact the receiving platform's support. Give them the transaction hash (TXID), the amount, and the memo the transfer should have had. Only the platform can credit the deposit: FxWallet can't change or reverse a transfer.
