What is the EIP-7702 upgrade?
The EIP-7702 upgrade lets your address on an EVM network use a smart contract's features, such as paying network fees with a token or combining several transactions into one. Your address and your assets stay the same, and you can cancel the upgrade at any time.
How FxWallet uses it
- Paying gas with a token. The first time you pay a fee with a token on a network, confirming the transaction also upgrades your address on that network. See Pay gas with a token.
- Revoking approvals together. On networks where your address is upgraded, Batch Revoke revokes the approvals you select in one transaction. See Token approvals.
The upgrade is per network and per address. FxWallet offers it for wallets created or imported with a mnemonic phrase or a private key, not for watch, cold or hardware wallets.
See or cancel the upgrade
Go to Me → Wallet Management, select the wallet, tap the account, then tap Manage EIP-7702 Upgrade. Each network shows Upgrade or Cancel upgrade. Cancelling is a transaction on that network, so it needs some of the network's native coin for the fee.
If you upgraded the same address in another wallet app, FxWallet says If you have previously upgraded this feature on another wallet, please update your authorization before using it here. Upgrade again in FxWallet before you pay gas with a token.
One transaction at a time
While an upgraded address has a pending transaction, FxWallet won't start another: Your account is currently processing a transaction. To ensure security, please wait for it to complete before starting a new one. Wait for the first one to confirm.
Upgrade only in FxWallet
An upgrade lets a contract act for your address. Scam sites ask people to sign an upgrade, or "delegation", that hands their address to a contract that drains it. Upgrade only from FxWallet's own screens, and never sign one that a website or a message asks for.
