Gas fees and Gas Card
Gas is the network fee that every blockchain transaction pays to the validators that process it. You pay it in the network's native coin, such as ETH on Ethereum, or with a Gas Card, and on some networks with a token. FxWallet doesn't set gas fees: when you pay with the native coin, the whole fee goes to the network.
If you can't pay because you don't have enough of the native coin, see Not enough gas for a transaction.
Pay gas with a Gas Card
A Gas Card covers network fees so you can transact even with little or no native gas.
- Find your Gas Cards: on the Wallet home screen, tap More → Gas Card. There you can see your cards and their supported networks, create a card, or redeem a card someone shared with you.
- Use a Gas Card: on the confirmation screen, tap Gas Fee and choose Pay with Gas Card.
- Transactions paid with a Gas Card use Normal speed only and may take longer to confirm.
- To make sure the transaction succeeds, the amount covered by the card may be slightly higher than the actual network fee.
- By default, the Gas Card option is always shown. To show it only when you don't have enough native gas, go to Me → Preferences → Gas Card and turn off Enable gas card.
Pay gas with a token
When you send crypto on a supported EVM network, you can pay the network fee with a supported ERC-20 token instead of the native token:
- On the confirmation screen, tap Gas Fee.
- If Payment Method is shown, choose Pay with Token.
- Tap Gas Payment Token and select a token.
- Tap Confirm and finish sending.
Good to know:
- Paying gas with a token automatically enables EIP-7702 for your address.
- The fee shown includes a platform service fee.
- Token payments use Normal speed only.
- If your native balance is too low, FxWallet may select a supported token for you.
- This option is only for sending crypto. It is not available for swaps, bridges, NFT transfers or batch transfers, or for hardware and offline wallets.
Why fees change
Fees rise when a network is busy, for example during NFT mints, meme coin trading or sharp price moves, and a complex transaction such as a swap costs more than a simple transfer. The confirmation screen shows the fee before you confirm, so keep a little more of the native coin than one fee.
How to pay less
- Transact when the network is quieter, for example outside peak trading hours.
- Use a network with lower fees, such as BNB Chain, Polygon or Arbitrum, when the recipient supports it.
- Avoid busy moments such as major NFT launches or sharp price moves.
