Gas Card FAQ

A Gas Card pays network fees for you, so you can transact with little or none of a network's native coin. Your cards are on the Wallet tab, under More → Gas Card. See Gas fees and Gas Card for how to pay with one.

What's the difference between a Balance Card and a Gas Pass?

A Balance Card pays fees from its balance until it runs out. A Gas Pass covers a set number of transactions, each up to a limit the card shows. Each card also shows its Supported Networks, and when it expires, if it does.

Why can't I pay with my Gas Card?

Check these:

  • The transaction doesn't take Gas Cards. Bridges, batch transfers, Earn and EIP-7702 upgrades don't offer the option.
  • The network isn't on the card. The card pays only on its Supported Networks.
  • The wallet can't use Gas Cards. Watch wallets and hardware wallets have no Gas Card option.
  • The card expired or ran out. You see The gas card has expired and cannot be used. or Insufficient gas card balance.
  • The option is hidden. With Enable gas card off, FxWallet offers the card only when you don't have enough of the native coin.

When a card covers only part of a fee, the confirmation shows the covered part, and the rest is Paid by Wallet in the native coin, so you still need some of it.

Can I get my money back out of a Gas Card?

warning

No. A card's balance can only pay network fees: FxWallet has no way to withdraw it. Deposit only what you expect to spend on fees.

How do I give a Gas Card to someone?

Open the card and tap Send to Address, or tap Generate Redeem Code to make a QR code and a code to share.

warning

A QR code and redeem code will be generated for this card. Anyone with the code/QR can claim the card until you revoke or it expires. Share the code only with the person it's for. A card sent with Send to Address can't be taken back.

Until someone redeems a shared card, you can take it back with Recall in Gift History.

Why doesn't a redeem code work?

  • Redeem code is invalid: check the code and enter it again.
  • This redeem code has been used: someone has already redeemed it.
  • This redeem code is expired: ask the sender for a new code.
  • Unable to claim the Gas card you shared: you can't redeem a card that you shared yourself.

I paid, but my card or deposit doesn't show

Open Created Cards or Deposit History and check its status. Waiting for payment means the payment hasn't confirmed yet, so check again later: FxWallet stops checking after about 10 minutes and doesn't tell you. If the payment left your wallet and the card still doesn't show, contact support with the transaction hash (TXID).

Why did my Gas Cards disappear?

Gas Cards belong to the wallet that created or redeemed them, so each wallet shows its own. Switch back to that wallet. Restoring it on a new phone brings its cards back too.
