Stake and unstake with Earn
Staking locks your coins with a validator, a node that helps run the network, and earns you rewards in return. To stake, tap Staking under All Products on the Earn tab, and choose a coin. You can also tap the coin on the Wallet tab, then tap Stake.
Staked coins can't be sent, swapped or sold. To use them again you unstake them, and they stay locked for the network's lock-up period, earning nothing. APY isn't guaranteed, and a validator can earn less than it shows.
Before you stake
- Check the Lock-up Period: how long your coins stay locked after you unstake.
- The Fee on the staking page is the validator's fee: the share of your rewards it keeps. To choose another validator, tap its name and compare APYs and fees in Select Validator.
- Staking, claiming and unstaking are transactions, so each pays a network fee.
- On Solana, FxWallet keeps a small amount of SOL in your account to keep it active.
Your positions are in My Assets on the Earn tab, and on the Wallet tab under DeFi.
Rewards differ by network
- Cosmos networks, such as Cosmos Hub (ATOM): you collect rewards yourself. Claim sends them to your wallet, and Reinvest stakes them again with the same validators.
- Solana: rewards are added to your stake automatically. Last Epoch Rewards shows only the most recent epoch's rewards.
Unstake
Open the position, tap the validator (on Solana, the stake account), then tap Undelegate.
- Cosmos networks: you choose how much to unstake. The position shows Unbonding with an Estimated completion time, and when it ends, the coins are back in your wallet.
- Solana: the whole stake account is unstaked. When it has finished, tap Withdraw to move the SOL to your wallet: it doesn't move on its own.
On some Cosmos networks, you can move staked coins to another validator without unstaking: tap Redelegate. The network limits how often you can do this, and FxWallet explains the rules before you confirm.
If you don't see Staking
The Staking tab isn't shown for every type of wallet, for example hardware wallets. You may still be able to stake from the coin's page: tap the coin on the Wallet tab, then tap Stake. With a hardware wallet such as Keystone, you can stake SOL this way and sign with the hardware wallet. If the coin's page has no Stake button either, you can't stake that coin with this wallet: hardware wallets can't stake on Cosmos networks, and watch wallets can't stake.
