Fake support and QR code scams

FxWallet support never messages you first, and never asks for your mnemonic phrase or private key. Anyone who does is a scammer, even in an official group or in the replies to an official post.

Fake support

Scammers watch community groups for people asking for help, then message them as "FxWallet support". They ask for the mnemonic phrase to "verify" or "fix" the wallet, send a link to a fake site, or ask you to scan a code. With the phrase, they can take everything in the wallet.

• Not sure who you're talking to? Email a screenshot to [email protected] and ask. Report fake accounts the same way.

Fake QR codes

A QR code can open a page that looks like a transfer or a claim, but asks you to approve a contract or sign a transaction. Approving gives the scammer permission to move your tokens. Fake codes show up in:

• posters and posts that promise an airdrop if you scan a code to "verify" your wallet;
• trades with strangers, where the "buyer" sends a code or a link to a fake payment page.

After you scan a code, read the page and every request before you confirm: who is asking, what you approve, and the address the crypto goes to. If you approved something by mistake, revoke it at once. See Token approvals.
