Both the mnemonic phrase and private key are used to access and control a crypto wallet, but they work differently. Understanding the distinction is essential for wallet security and recovery.

Use Mnemonic Phrase When:

  • Recovering your entire wallet on a new device.
  • Importing your wallet into a new app.
  • Backing up your wallet for long-term storage.

Use Private Key When:

  • Importing a single account into another wallet app.
  • Accessing a specific address without importing the full wallet.

Anyone with your mnemonic phrase OR private key has full control over the associated wallet or account. Never share either with anyone, and never store them digitally.

How to View Your Mnemonic Phrase or Private Key in FxWallet

  1. Open FxWallet and tap the menu icon (top left).
  2. Select Wallet.
  3. Choose the wallet you want to view.
  4. Tap Mnemonic Backup or View Private Key.
  5. Authenticate with your biometrics or PIN.
  6. Tap the eye icon to reveal the information.
