Aleo gives every address two balances: a public one that anyone can see on the blockchain, and a private one that only your wallet can read. The ALEO page in FxWallet shows them as **Private** and **Public**.

## Can I send private ALEO to an exchange?

> **Danger**
>
> No. **Please note that centralized exchanges only accept public Aleo. If the transaction is to an exchange, only send public credits with a public fee.** An exchange may never credit private ALEO, or a transfer with a private fee.

When you send to an exchange, tap **Configure Send** on the send screen and choose **Public** under both **You send** and **User receives**. Keep the fee **Public** too.

## Why doesn't my private balance show?

FxWallet needs your keys to read your private balance from the blockchain. It asks you to confirm it's you (**Enter password for ALEO synchronized data analysis.**), then shows **Synchronizing...** until it has read your records. **Data will be fully displayed once synchronization is complete.**

## Why can't I send all my private ALEO at once?

Private ALEO is held in separate pieces called records, and one private send can spend only one of them. **Selected private record** shows how much the chosen record holds: the most you can send privately in one go. Send the rest in more transactions.

A record marked (V0) can't be spent until it's upgraded: tap **Upgrade** next to it in **Select Record**. The upgrade is a transaction with a fee.

## Why does a private send need public ALEO?

The network fee is paid from your public balance by default, so a private send stops with **Insufficient public balance** when you have no public ALEO. Keep some public ALEO, or move some across with **Convert**, which also needs a fee.

## Why can't I send another ALEO transaction?

FxWallet sends one Aleo transaction at a time. Wait for the last one to confirm: see [Network rules FAQ](https://docs.fxwallet.com/wallet/network-rules#why-cant-i-send-another-transaction).

## What do these errors mean?

- **Aleo server is disconnected, please resend later.**: FxWallet couldn't reach its Aleo service. Try again later.
- **This transaction was discarded due to Aleo node behavior. Please try again later.**: the transaction didn't go through. Try again later.
