To move from another wallet app, import its mnemonic phrase into FxWallet. Where both apps derive the same address from the phrase, your crypto shows up in FxWallet without a transaction or a fee. Where the address differs, as for Bitcoin in most apps, send those assets from the old app to your FxWallet address.

> **Danger**
>
> If anyone else may have seen your mnemonic phrase, don't import it: they control those addresses in every app. Create a new wallet in FxWallet and send your assets to it instead. See [What to do if your wallet is compromised](https://docs.fxwallet.com/security-and-scams/if-your-wallet-is-compromised).

## Import the wallet

> **Danger**
>
> Enter the phrase only in apps on your own phone. A website, a form or a "support agent" that asks for it is a scam.

1. In the old app, open the option that shows the mnemonic phrase, usually under its backup or security settings. MetaMask calls it the **Secret Recovery Phrase**. Write the words down on paper, in order.
2. In FxWallet, tap **Import Existing Wallet** on the first screen, then **Mnemonic Phrase / Private Key**. If FxWallet already has a wallet, tap **Import Wallet** under **Add Wallet** instead.
3. Enter the words, with a space between them, and tap **Next Step**.
4. If you used more than one account in the old app, go to **Me** → **Wallet Management**, select the wallet and tap **Add Account** for each one, in the same order. FxWallet restores only the first account.

Your balances then show on the **Wallet** tab. If a token you hold is missing, go to **Me** → **Assets Discovery**. It doesn't search every network, Solana and TRON included. Add tokens on those yourself: see [Add tokens and networks](https://docs.fxwallet.com/wallet/add-tokens-and-networks). ## Check each address

Before you rely on an address, compare it with the one in the old app. Apps that use the same derivation path, the route from the phrase to an address, give the same address.

- **EVM networks,** such as Ethereum and BNB Chain (`m/44'/60'/0'/0/n`): the same in MetaMask, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet, imToken, TokenPocket and Phantom. MetaMask's Account 1 is FxWallet's first account.
- **Solana** (`m/44'/501'/n'/0'`): the same in Phantom, MetaMask and OKX Wallet. **Different in Trust Wallet**: send your Solana assets.
- **TRON** (`m/44'/195'/0'/0/n`): the first account is the same in TronLink, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet and imToken. Compare the others one by one.
- **Bitcoin** (`m/44'/0'/n'/0/0`, legacy addresses only): **usually different.** FxWallet's Bitcoin addresses start with 1. Bitcoin at an address that starts with bc1 or 3 doesn't show: send it to your FxWallet address.

`n` is the account: 0 for the first, 1 for the second. Toncoin addresses usually differ from other apps' too, and a 24-word phrase made by a TON wallet can't be imported: send your Toncoin assets instead.

## When you can't import the phrase

Send the assets from the old app to your FxWallet addresses when:

- The old wallet has no mnemonic phrase, such as a keyless, MPC, social-login or passkey wallet. If the app shows a private key for a network, you can import that instead: tap **Mnemonic Phrase / Private Key**, enter the key and choose the network under **Select Chain**. Solana and Toncoin private keys can't be imported.
- The phrase has a passphrase (a "25th word"), its words aren't English, or the old app used a custom derivation path.
- The account is on a Ledger or Trezor. FxWallet works only with hardware wallets that connect by QR code, such as Keystone: see [Connect a Keystone hardware wallet](https://docs.fxwallet.com/cold-and-hardware-wallets/keystone).

Accounts that MetaMask marks as imported come from a private key, not from the phrase: import each with its key.

## After you move

- Balances and token approvals are on the network, so they come with the phrase. Review old approvals in **Approvals**: see [Token approvals](https://docs.fxwallet.com/wallet/token-approvals).
- Add custom tokens and networks again: see [Add tokens and networks](https://docs.fxwallet.com/wallet/add-tokens-and-networks). The old app's address book, DApp connections and settings stay there.
- The old app still holds the same keys. Keep it secure, or remove the wallet from it once you've checked your backup of the phrase.
